The Young Family Vacation...

We took a vacation with my family last week to the Dominican Republic. Both my parents turn 50 this year (gasp! I reveled their age!) and we decided it would be fun to take a family trip to celebrate. Unfortunately not all the family could be there, my sister's husband ended up having to bail out last minute due to an out of the country job change. Therefore, that left Vim and my dad as the only two males. Which then led them to several trips to the bar....I can't blame them...its hard to keep up with a conversation when 4 related women get together.
Anyway, I am glad that we didn't go any later in the pregnancy. By the time we reached Punta Cana, I was pretty much exhausted and swollen. We didn't do any excursions, I was kind of eliminated from them, and my husband, the good man he is, sat out too since I couldn't do anything. Normally he has a hard time sitting still (we both do, but him more so), but I was very proud of him. He laid and relaxed most of the trip.
The two highlights of the trip for me were:
1) Playing in the waves: This was my first time to see blue water, and let me tell you, it was BEAUTIFUL. My sisters and I played in the waves like we were 10 again. It was very freeing...I guess because I didn't have my little man there to worry about or watch for, I just played like I didn't have a care in the world. It took me back to childhood memories.
2) Black Jack: They had a small casino on the resort and we played black jack every night we were there. I know that so many people have a hard time letting go of their money to gamble, but for me, its fun, its a game, its all about strategizing... I love it...but not in a 'I have an addiction kind of love'. I only play with a certain amount and when its gone, its gone. And if I loose $20, well it was well worth the entertainment for a couple of hours. I mean people go to the movies and spend $12 on a ticket which to me is crazy! Anyway, I won, then I lost, and then Vim won it all back. So we actually ended up making a little money on vacation. Not too shabby if you ask me.
Here are some photos from our trip...warning you are about to see a pregnant belly!
The 'Fam'

Pool Side Cabana...I gotta get one of these...first maybe I should work on getting the pool.

The Young Family 'Divas'

The Young Family Diva's after 'frolicking' in the waves! Notice the sunglasses...

Scuba Steve!

My dad and Vim...what more can I say...

Us being silly on the beach...we were laughing so hard...I about peed my pants.

I was sooo thrilled about this drink! I had imagined myself with a cute little drink with an umbrella in it and it wasn't until the last night that I got one...don't worry it's a non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri!

Couldn't help myself.

Ohhh and the best picture of all! No we are not at a male strip club or a bachelorette party...but I could see how you could be confused. The resort put on a 'Chill Out' party in the Lobby one night, and they had techno music and brought in lights and dancers. You should have seen us dancing! This guy was awesome! He was on light up roller blades and danced in them...I had never seen anything like him. I told Vim we needed to hire him for the next party we throw.

CORRECTION

Proof that God has a since of humor. Not even a few hours after I posted pictures of us standing in front of 'manufactured' snow and jested about how we have to make our own snow in Texas, God proved to us that it does snow here!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Oh, tis' the season! Christmas Festivities are in full force around here. The tree is trimmed, presents are bought, and Christmas parties are in full swing! Here are a few pictures from all our activities over the past week.

Christmas tree lighting in Town Square...Yes, we are standing directly in front of a 'snow' maker, in Texas we have to provide our own effects. Fortunately, it was cool that night, and we didn't put the jackets, hat, and scarf on just for the effect.

The kids loved the manufactured snow...I think it was some sort of foam...but who is counting.

Tree Decorating!
We went to The Houston Symphony to see Polar Express.
We had 3 Christmas parties last weekend, but managed to not take a single picture! Oh well. I truly am enjoying all the holiday cheer going on. I have made a huge effort to get things done early so that I can enjoy it more, and not stress out...but I can't help but feel a little bit anxious when I walk into Wally-World and see the huge sign in my face, screaming 15 DAYS till Christmas!!! AHHH!

Family Pictures

We took some family pictures a few weeks ago for our Christmas cards in Old Town Spring. I am really pleased with them. It was kind of a last minute thing, and we had to cut it short due to an unfortunate event that involved a sharp metal pole and almost losing an eye! So with all the factors considered, the pictures exceeded expectations! Above is a sneak peak, Christmas cards should be out next week if every thing goes as planned!
